How we helped move from Excel to Coda and improve collaboration across a large organisation

is a prominent homebuilder known for crafting residential communities across the United States, offering a range of homes from single-family residences to townhomes. Founded in 1959, the company focuses on delivering quality and innovative design tailored to meet the needs of modern families.

The Problem

Like any large organization, Excel is heavily used by individual and teams to help manage timelines, tasks, and to share information. However, Excel is not a great tool for collaboration, and Excel sheets kept breaking under the pressure of multiple people trying to edit at the same time.

The Solution

Codamated helped K Hovnanian Homes to move their Excel processes to a Coda-powered solution which enabled their teams to collaboratively work together on milestones, timelines, and keeping track of dates across all their communities in active development.

Understanding What Changed

One of the unique solutions we implemented was to keep track of date changes so that teams could understand what changes they needed to make.

If a new community opening was going to move forward, then the marketing team wanted to know by how much since the last update, so they could plan accordingly.

Our solution kept track of these date changes and allowed teams to get better insights into their workflows.

Improved Collaboration

Using Coda allowed us to have a central source of truth where all the key milestone dates for each community development were stored, while having custom documents for each team, which allowed us to craft unique solutions for each team, while using Cross-docs sharing from the source of truth document to keep everyone aligned.
