Matt Kotlan - Audio Engineer

Name: Matt Kotlan - - 605.868.4286 (text friendly)

Day Job:

Grocery Store Clerk very part time/ Audio Engineering when I can get on set

Personal/Professional Goals:

Become an independent writer/director in narrative or documentary filmmaking and make enough money to live

When/How I like to work:

I like to work in the mornings the most, with good music and a clean work space. I like working with others too as long as we’re all working/motivating each other.

What I value:

I value collaboration, communication and friendship the most. When we can come together and make something beautiful together that we’re all proud of, it makes me happy :) Also value creativity and the spectrum of it

What I don’t have patience for:

I don’t have patience for when someone shuts down during a stressful time. I understand when things are overwhelming of course, but when we as a team can solve a problem together and people are shutting their doors it’s hard for me to deal with.

How to best communicate with me:

Clear, concise, deadlines and dates up front, and any audio information I might need. Just call or text, I’ll respond as soon as I can. I’m mostly free, so usually pretty quick, but Mondays and Wednesdays I’m at grocery store.

Time of Day:

Mornings is best! But I’ll usually answer/respond if it’s before 8pm and non-urgent.

What day of the week and/or time of day am I completely unreachable?

Monday nights and Wednesday mornings for now

Things I struggle with:

In the past I’ve struggled with getting easily frustrated/angered. I’ve gotten a lot better (thankful for therapy).

How to help me:

Just being nice and communicative! I love knowing way ahead of time about stuff, it helps me organize my schedule and keeps my anxiety at bay.

Likes: Climbing, hiking, creative writing and filmmaking, cooking good vegan food for myself and others, hanging with people I love ,

dislikes: disrespect, football, lack of communication, dirty spaces
