But we're still running into a lot of problems because we don't have the good fit platform. That's why we need to create a better tech and developer environment for the future experts and innovators.
Discord vs WhatsApp Communities: A Comparison for Tech Communities
Discord and WhatsApp both let you chat in groups, but they work in different ways. Discord has servers (or communities) that offer several text and voice channels focused on different topics, plus you can set up roles, use bots, and connect other tools. On the other hand, WhatsApp’s new Communities feature lets you group related chats together, but you only get one main channel and some simple admin options. Because of this, Discord is better for tech-savvy users. Here’s a table that shows the main differences before we go more deeper.
Discord and WhatsApp both let you communicate in groups, but they work quite differently. Discord has servers, which are like different communities, that come with various text and voice channels for different topics, role-based permissions, bots, and integrations. On the other hand, WhatsApp’s Communities feature just groups related chats together under one main chat. It only offers one channel for announcements and basic admin options. Because of this, Discord is way more flexible for tech-focused users. It has a bunch of features that make it better for creating professional tech communities. You can have multiple channels for courses, quiz bots for studying, project channels for teamwork, and public servers for networking in the industry. WhatsApp Communities just don’t offer the same level of structure and capabilities. While WhatsApp is great for secure mobile messaging, it falls short for what tech communities need. So, if you’re looking to build a serious educational or professional tech group, Discord is the way to go.
