Boulder, Colorado, USA — [03/05/2025]
The way we think about nature is broken. Scroll through your social feeds and you’ll see a never-ending stream of picture-perfect cabins, bathed in golden-hour light, looking impossibly serene and untouched. But just like actual pornography, cabin porn warps our sense of reality, turning real adventure into passive, aestheticized fantasies. It’s a quick hit of escapism, a soothing visual indulgence that replaces real, immersive experiences with filtered 'perfection'. Cabins, once symbols of escape, independence, and rugged adventure, have become passive props for social validation.

ELMNTL flips this script: Their modular, adventure-ready cabins are designed for explorers, thrill-seekers, and those who crave deep, meaningful engagement with the outdoors. These cabins are built for the wild, not the ‘gram.

ELMNTL is a Colorado-based workshop building modular cabins and saunas. They just released a new range of cabins that usher in a new era in experiential travel. These cabins come fully complete and can be delivered anywhere, making it easy for individuals to enter the hospitality and rental space.

ELMNTL was founded by former data scientist turned woodworker, Vlad Dubovskiy. “Some of the best experiences I've had were in remote cabins that called out to the wild, where you need to do a little extra work to settle in, like chop wood to start a fire, or carry water from the well. Similarly, ELMNTL makes it real for folks starting hospitality retreats to deliver best-in-class adventure stays to their guests. We help clients focus on running their businesses and not worry about the hassles of managing design and construction. Our cabins are plug-n-play adventure hubs that invite guests to get out there and create unforgettable memories.”

Launchpad for Adventure

Deeply rooted in Colorado’s spirit of adventure, ELMNTL’s design aims to empower active holidays, where guests venture out for adventure and return to a warm, cozy, and refined space. They do this with their ecosystem of adventure add-ons:

Thermal Bathing: A sauna and an outdoor bathing nook for a hot tub, cold plunge, or an outdoor shower.
Gear Tunnel: A covered entry that acts as a dry zone for wet boots, gear storage, and more.
Mounts: Built-in storage for outdoor equipment like skis, bikes, climbing gear, and anything else you can think of.
“We empower landowners to place a cabin right at the most breathtaking part of their property—whether it’s a hidden mountain biking trail, pristine lakefront, or the perfect sunset vantage point. Then, we throw in the mounts, the gear tunnel, a sauna, a rooftop deck, and a hammock that makes an already stunning cabin so much more. This way, retreat operators can create unique, experience-driven stays that set them apart in the world of hospitality.” – Vlad Dubovskiy

Leave the Selfie Stick, Bring the Ski Poles

ELMNTL’s design philosophy centers around allowing individuals to set up world-class experiences for personal use or to create a hospitality business. The adaptive nature of the design system gives hospitality entrepreneurs endless flexibility to design experiences that simply cannot be found anywhere else. They can now craft specific experiences for, say, a group of skiers who use the ELMNTL cabin as the ultimate backcountry basecamp, complete with ski mounts, a sauna, a plunge pool, and a rooftop deck for stargazing after a long day on the slopes. These aren’t just cabins; they’re purpose-built for real adventure.
ELMNTL does everything in-house: from design to manufacturing, which strengthens their ability to take on a high level of configurability for cabins and saunas. The 2025 lineup includes three adventure models:
ELMNTL cabins can be combined in endless ways to create unique hospitality experiences or personal retreats.
ELMNTL’s cabins toss out the boring, predictable playbook of other modular prefab architecture. The system is designed to respond to the quirks and features of the client’s land. Key features include:
Adaptive Design: Oriented for optimal views, sunlight, and wind protection, ensuring they harmonize or disappear into the landscape.
Fully Modular: Stack, join, or configure cabins to fit any terrain.
Ready for Extremes: Structure rated for over 195 mph winds and snow load capacity of over 100 lbs/sf, plus off-grid capabilities.
Built for Disassembly: Built with natural, biodegradable, and decarbonizing materials; they can be disassembled and relocated.
Our cabins are designed to adapt to the land, not the other way around. Whether it’s a rugged mountainside, a serene forest, or a lakeside retreat, our cabins dissolve into the natural beauty of the environment while providing a refined, functional space” - Vlad Dubovskiy

Interactive Configurator

ELMNTL launched an interactive configurator to go with its new models. This empowers clients to design their cabin, choose everything from color, material, siding, and glazing options, and select add-ons—all while getting live pricing updates. Configuring an ELMNTL cabin is like ordering a car online, providing a realistic picture of the exact final product.

Derisking Projects Upfront

ELMNTL cares for small business owners to succeed and plays a key partner role. To do this, they take the guesswork out of setting up a cabin retreat by handling zoning, permitting, and site work management — services often overlooked by other prefab builders. This end-to-end approach ensures clients receive a detailed quote that includes all costs, eliminating surprises and making it easier to plan and budget.
“Our approach is simple: no surprises, no hidden costs—just a straightforward, transparent process”, says Vlad Dubovskiy, “most prefab companies only quote the structure itself, leaving out critical details like permitting, foundation, and site work. We eliminate that uncertainty by providing a full-scope, upfront quote, so clients can make informed decisions and bring their vision to life with confidence.”

Building a Community of Explorers

ELMNTL isn’t just building cabins—it’s creating a movement. A movement that encourages people to embrace raw, primal, unfiltered adventure. These cabins aren’t props; they are launchpads for exploration, built to bring people deeper into the elements while offering the refined comforts that make time spent in the wild even more immersive.
Our big idea is simple — it is to foster a love for the fragile, wild, natural world. To do that, we work with our hospitality clients to get as many people as possible into the elements,” — said Dubovskiy. Whether it’s a holiday retreat, a source of rental income, or a dynamic space that serves both, ELMNTL’s cabins are designed to adapt to the aspirations of every new destination, every new frontier to be re-discovered anew.
