President ASEAN & Pacific, Non-executive Chairman Asia Pacific
Activity in the Civil and Defence Aerospace, Marine and Energy sectors.
Led the company’s strategy development and implementation in Asia Pacific to drive growth in revenue, cost reduction, technology acquisition, risk management, HR structures and governance. This included structuring partnerships with both the public and private sectors in order to distribute risk and access capital flows.
Oversaw the management and governance of the organisation in Asia Pacific, which in the period grew to 4000 employees. This included establishing a major manufacturing centre, the world’s biggest large aero engine maintenance, repair and overhaul centre and the company’s largest single research partnership, which focused on materials, electronics and data technology development. Developing the regional supply chain manufacturing infrastructure was also a key element of the company’s success.
Negotiated M&A, government support packages and inward investment totalling £800m.
Annual regional revenue grew to £1.5bn in the period.
Chaired structured partnerships to promote diverse engagement with STEM and Engineering subjects at all academic levels and early career.
Mentored many organisations, mainly focused on supporting industrial and manufacturing S&MEs in their growth, digitisation and internationalisation efforts.
Established various philanthropic and cultural partnerships, all of which included direct active engagement in addition to the financial contributions made.

1999 – 2012

Regional Director SE Asia, Rolls-Royce PLC – Singapore based
Established and deployed the strategy to create and grow the company’s presence in Asia Pacific focused on revenue growth, technology partnerships, regional services provision and manufacturing.
The company grew annual revenue from £300m to £1bn in the period as well as establishing both technology acquisition and technical services at scale.
The employee base grew from a handful of individuals to 1600.
Total investment made by the company in the period reached £350m.
Instigated and drove the inaugural private sector involvement in establishing the Singapore-UK Technology Partnership. This formal gov-to-gov structure was then adopted throughout the region.

Led the establishment of the first Rolls-Royce office in Malaysia.
First major success in the civil aviation business in Malaysia with a £500m order for aero engines and services.

Jonathan grew up mainly in Singapore and Zambia, studied in the UK and has lived and worked in Germany, the USA, China, Malaysia and Singapore. Jonathan speaks fluent German. He is married with one child.
