Bulk Editing Dates on a New Build

ok
Refer to the video below, also available in the , for step by step instructions.

General Notes

When a new dev or redev shell is created, one of the first things to do is to transition any existing dates to the appropriate debut.

Using the “Manage Dates” Tool

Under “More Tools,” select “Manage Dates.”
Scroll through the dates to identify the start of the existing shell. Most often, it will be 8/30/2021 (this is what is in the master they copy from). Find the open date by searching for the start of the “General Questions” discussion forum.
Open the “Days Calculator” tool at
Enter the existing start date in the “Start Date” section.
Search for the start date of the new term in the . In my example, I will shift to 23FALL1 (August 28, 2023).
Click “Calculate Duration.”

The generator will provide a number of days between the two dates. In this example, it is 728 days. Copy that number.
Return to D2L. Select all dates and click “Bulk Offset Dates.”

Select “Offset by Direction and Range.”
Input the number you calculated in the “Forward” field.
Click “Save.”
Review the dates to see if they are now aligned with the new debut. Sometimes, a leap year might impact this process. If it does, go through the process again to move forward or backwards one day.

Note About Discussion Due Dates

Due to a bug in D2L, any dates added to Discussions through the Content area (typically just the due dates) will not be carried over in this process. These will need to be manually updated in textbook updates, minis, and other projects where all dates are copied over and not just the basic template.
