Bongo video assignments can be used for virtual presentations in the online environment. The tutorial below explains how to set up an assignment.
Add Bongo to the D2L Course (in Hidden Instructor Module)
In the “Instructor Resources” module, click “Existing Activities” and “External Learning Tool.” Select “Video Assignment Launch.” This will give you access to Bongo.
Create a Video Assignment (in Content Module)
Once Bongo is added to the course and you are ready to build an assignment, go to the appropriate module and select “Existing Activities.” Then select “Video Assignment.”
The screen above will appear. To create the Individual Assignment, select the first icon on the left.
Create an Assignment Name. Change Evaluation Type to Rubric if you intend to use a rubric for grading. It might be easier to build the rubric in advance, or leave on “Percentage” until you have time to build the rubric and alter this setting later. If this activity is to be shared only with the instructor, deselect the radio button next to “Peer Review.” If you intend to make this a peer review activity, decide how many videos you want each student to review. Once the assignment is created, if you need to edit it, go back to the “Video Assignment Launch” link that was added in the Instructor Module. There will be a dropdown next to the assignment and select “Configure.”
Build a Rubric
To build a rubric, select the hamburger icon in the upper right corner when you are in “Video Assignment Launch.” Then select “Rubrics.”
To add a new rubric, select the + button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
You can either import a rubric or add a new rubric. I typically create a rubric within the system.
If you created the Rubric after the assignment, make sure to go back and edit the assignment and attach the rubric.
Final Items to Prepare the Course
In the “Instructor Module,” import from the LOR the “Bongo Instructor Guide.” In the “Start Here” module, import from the LOR the “Getting Started with Bongo Individual Project” item.
