Soundcloud is a music streaming service made in 2007. Soundcloud attracts a very large demographic of musical creators by providing users the ability to upload their own original sounds to the platform. This is in contrast to many other streaming platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music in which music is not frequently uploaded by individual users, but rather the catalogue of music owned by companies or music labels. Soundcloud's direct approach to uploading music for streaming is more in line with our class definition of new media as it promotes a more direct line of two way communication between individuals rather than a large commercial entity providing music to a consumer.
