Intro

Thank you for meeting with me to discuss the SEO work that Dessange is considering for it’s new website.

Following the meeting with Nina and Ana last Friday, I understand that a key goal is to improve customer awareness and visibility of the Dessange Saburtalo location.

To asses the current situation, I have done a preliminary review of the current website as well as the new site that is in the development/test environment.

Current site

The current site (dessange.ge) is

on Wordpress and uses WooCommerce for the shop. It is somewhat outdated but still largely functional and could be improved with a few simple changes.

Search rankings - current site

The website is currently ranked in the first 10 results for 9 keywords (Kerastase, Kerastase Tbilisi,

kerastase shampoo⁠

In total there are about 73 keywords that the site is ranking for in Google, though most of these rankings are well below the first 10 results. None of the search terms the site is ranked for include Saburtalo specifically.

Suggested improvements to the current website

One of the biggest issues with the current site is that there is almost no information about the Saburtalo branch. Only the Vake address is shown in the footer and on the contact page.

There also appears to be an SSL issue on mobile, which I think should be resolved as part of any work on the site. See screenshot below - showing exclamation in address bar.

In addition, to clean up the current site, I would remove the message that shows up saying “It seams that you haven't connected with your Instagram account”. I.e. the text near the footer in the following screenshot.

Suggestion: Fix the link in the Google business listing for Dessange Saburtalo.

I would suggest linking it to the website and making sure the data between Google business listings and the website matches. This will help with visibility (esp if the Saburtalo location is added to the website).

Finally, as raised this morning to Ana Surgarladze, there seems to be a malware problem on the current site, this should be fixed as a matter of urgency. It’s something that only showed up for me today (and wasn’t noticeable earlier in the week when I viewed the site).

(they charge $150 USD and provide a 12 month warranty on their work) or I can help with this.

But this is a priority issue and moving forward the site needs to be secured with a web firewall and security plugin - while waiting for the release of the new site. I can assist with setting those up.

New site

The new site that’s in development, shows great results in a technical performance test.

It appears to be built on a custom/proprietary content management system (CMS) using the Laravel PHP framework. This is great for performance and security.

After looking at the admin area, however, there is very limited access to the features that are needed for on-page SEO work. There are three Meta fields available, however these would have limited impact on your SEO.

This would mean that to do any on-page SEO, I would need to work in collaboration with the developers to optimise the site, or there would need to be additional features built into the admin area to make it possible to do things such as:

adjust headings (and heading tags)

adjust alt text on images

edit content on the home page

change permalinks (URLs)

setup redirects, etc...

Proposal

For now, I would suggest that I start to work on the tasks above for the current site (excluding the site hack clean-up) and would work to do this in the next month. My charge for this work would be $500 USD.

I’m open to adjusting the scope of work within this budget, to focus on the priority tasks that will help improve the business.

* Getting access to analytics and search console would enable me to make a better assessment of how we can improve the search rankings of the website and potentially tie this into the goal of increasing visitors to the Saburtalo branch.
