TL;DR on my rating/rec system
I don’t believe in , especially since so much of my dining impression is dependent on who I ate the meal with, who my server was, the specific dish I ate — and I believe that the whole is so much more than the sum of its parts. And plus, I’m not a food critic. But I think that a restaurant is successful if I enjoyed it so much that I’m willing to go again. The most difficult parts of being a restaurant in my opinion is a) getting people through the door the first time, and b) convincing them that it’s worth it to come back again. That’s why I boiled down my recs down to a binary and just ask myself, “would I come back for another meal?”.
There’s so much good food in the world that it’s a shame to waste a meal on something that I didn’t enjoy. It literally doesn’t have to be fancy either. Anything that tastes good, nourishes me, reminds me of my mom’s cooking, or brings me and my friends together is worth it. So here’s what I enjoyed.
I’ve been to places in NYC.
