Validate product

Use the questions below to validate your product and find out if it actually has potential:

Does it solve an actual problem? And are there enough people who struggle with this problem? Problem-solving products are easier to sell but still require demand.
Is it a product-market fit? Are you advertising the product to the right target audience? Are you highlighting the right product benefits for that target audience? Can you highlight other benefits and choose a different positioning?
Does it have a wow factor? Does it drive interest and engagement?
Is it an outdated product that needs improvements? Can you create a new and better version of an existing product by adding new benefits and features?
Are other brands selling this product successfully? If so, you should be able to sell it too. Study everything they do: their advertising strategy, branding, what benefits they are highlighting, and so on.
Is it scalable? Is the demand in your market high enough to scale? Can you expand to other markets in the future? Would a lot of people purchase this product?
Are profit margins high enough to cover all business expenses, including salary, warehouse, etc., and give you room to scale? If profit margins are low, we recommend adding multiple upsell products to increase average order value or moving on to another product with a higher profit margin. It’s extremely challenging to scale a product with a profit margin below $20.
Can you think of someone who would purchase your product?

How long should I test a product?

It depends on your budget, and how much you believe in it. Some brands test 50 different ad creatives for one product before they find one ad that performs, meaning the product wasn’t the problem, it was their marketing strategy. But testing that many ads is also very expensive.

Identify the problem

People are showing interest in your ads: If you are currently running ads right now, and people are clicking on the ad and visiting your e-commerce store, this means that there is demand for the product, but something is wrong with the website.
People are not showing interest in your ads: If your ads aren’t bringing in visitors, the audience you are advertising to could be the problem, it can be the positioning of the product or it could simply just be a bad product.
