Science 4-8 contains five major sections with 23 competencies:

Most of the Science 4-8 questions did not involve math besides adding and subtracting. Instead, they were largely conceptual or testing facts rather than mathematical, procedural, analytical, or application based.
The Science 7-12 questions were more analytical than the Science 4-8. Questions often involved math or asked for an application of a concept that just remembering associated facts.
