Writing Day 6

What to do in high school?
(Inspiration Paul Graham co-founder of Y Combinator)

How many adults have asked you this question:
What are your plans for the Future?

Adults and friends always this question, so you believe that you’re supposed to have an answer.
But, adults mostly just ask you this as a conservation starter and to understand the type of person you are.

In high school, you don't need to have every detail of your life planned out.
If someone asked about my plans, I’d say my priorities right now are to learn about the options available and to find what I love to do.
Building specific knowledge will feel like play to you but will look like work to others.”
- Naval Ravikant

It’s 2023, with all the changes that are currently happening, the best thing for me to do is learn skills that’ll be useful for the rest on my time. In such a world it’s not a good idea to have fixed ideas.

explore skills like: Prompt Engineering
Video Editing

“You have to work on stuff you like if you want to be good at what you do.” - Paul Graham

Treat high school like a day job, finish your assigned tasks and after 3:00 PM you’re free to do what you love.

#1 things most people regret about high school, is that they wasted so much time.
If, what you’re doing is not towards learing and exploring new options. You’re most likely wasting time.

2nd biggest regret was caring too much about unimportant things. And especially about what other people thought of you.
Adults care just as much as you do, but they are more selective about what they care about. I have my family and a buddy whose opinions I care about, and the opinion of others barely affect me.

I live by this one saying:
“We’re all going to die regardless”
so just simile, and do the things you want to do.

Once again, thank-you for tuning in to the sixth episode. I hope you found it valuable.
I appreciate you reading, listening, and sharing it with others.
