Set up Electude in Toddle
Electude is a digital learning platform that delivers interactive lessons and quizzes organized into modules. Teachers can assign specific modules to students as part of an assignment or share broader content at the course level, with student progress and grades flowing back into Toddle.
As an admin, you can add Electude from Toddle’s pre-configured catalog of LTI tools.
Tip: For partner tools like Electude, always use the catalog option. The custom app setup is only meant for tools not listed in Toddle’s catalog. To learn how to set up a custom tool, refer to . To begin, navigate to Admin portal → Other settings → Integration → LTI apps
Click the + Add button and select Add from catalog. Select Electude from the catalog. 3. Select the program(s)/school(s) where you want this tool to be available.
4. The Version is set to 1.3 by default. Click Save and next.
5. Copy the following credentials from the Electude portal and paste them into the corresponding fields in Toddle:
OIDC authorization URL→ Initiate login URL Launch URL→ Launch/Redirect URL Note: Copy these URLs from the Electude portal, not from the Toddle LTI credentials shown at the top of the setup screen.
6. Toddle generates a set of LTI credentials (Issuer URL, Client ID, Login URL, Keyset URL, Token URL, and Deployment ID) shown at the top of the setup screen. In the Electude portal, go to Settings → External access and enter these values in the corresponding fields. Click OK to save.
Login URL→ OIDC authorization URL Token URL→ OAuth2 access token URL Deployment ID→ Deployment ID 7. Configure the following settings based on your school’s needs:
Allow grade passback: When enabled, scores from Electude flow back into Toddle’s gradebook for the assignments where the tool is used. The score scales automatically to the maximum score set for the assignment in Toddle. When this setting is off, teachers can still use the tool, but scores will not sync to Toddle. Allow roster access: When enabled, Electude automatically fetches the list of students enrolled in the course from Toddle. This allows Electude to recognize and match students correctly without requiring them to register separately on Electude. There is no visible difference in experience for end users. Show response to students: When enabled, students can view their submitted work, score, and feedback within Electude once the teacher has clicked Return and sync on Electude. Students do not need the evaluation to be shared from Toddle to access this; sharing the evaluation from Toddle only controls visibility on Toddle itself. If this setting is off, students cannot access their submission or score through the tool. 8. Set the Placement to control where the tool appears. You can select one or both options:
Assignment: Electude appears in the submission template when teachers create or manage assignments, allowing them to attach specific modules or quizzes. Course: Electude appears in the left navigation panel of a course/class, allowing teachers to share modules with all enrolled students at the course level. 9. Select Enable LTI tool for teachers so teachers can start using the integration in their classes.
10. Click Save to complete the setup.
Once saved, Electude appears under LTI apps, as a card showing the tool name, the configured program(s)/school(s), the LTI version, and its status (enabled or disabled for teachers). From this card, you can view integration details, edit settings, or delete the tool.
Note: If teachers have already started using the tool, you can still edit its settings. However, deleting the tool immediately removes access for all teachers and students.
Use Electude in an assignment
As an educator, you can incorporate Electude into your classroom by adding it to the submission template when creating an assignment. This allows you to assign specific Electude modules or quizzes to students and receive their scores directly in Toddle.
To begin, navigate inside a class and create or edit an assignment. Then:
In the submission template, click Add an external tool and select Electude. 2. The first time you open Electude, you will be prompted to accept Electude's terms of service and complete a brief account setup. This is a one-time step.
3. The Electude content browser opens with a Search for modules screen. Click Search to see the results and select the module you want to assign.
5. When you select a module, you can view its further details such as level, type, duration, and learning objectives. From here, choose how to add it to your assignment:
Select as LTI tool: adds the module to Toddle without grade passback. Use this when you do not need scores to flow into Toddle’s gradebook. Select as LTI tool with line item: adds the module to Toddle with grade passback enabled. Use this when you want the student’s score to flow into Toddle’s gradebook automatically. 6. The module is added as a submission template with the assigned marks shown. You can rename or remove it using the three-dot menu.
7. Click Assign when you are ready.
View at the students’ end
Students can see the Electude attachment in their assigned task. In the Your response section, they click +Add to begin.
Electude opens within Toddle, showing the assigned module with a Start module button and a progress tracker. Students click Start module to begin.
The module opens as an interactive activity. Students work through the content, answering questions, completing simulations, and receiving instant feedback as they progress. They can click on Exit quiz to submit the quiz.
Once they have completed the module, students return to Toddle and click Mark as done to complete the task.
After students submit, you can review and grade their work on Electude. To see who has submitted:
Open the assignment in Toddle, go to the All submissions tab. If Allow grade passback was enabled during setup, the score from Electude appears here automatically once the student completes the module. The score scales to the maximum score set for the assignment in Toddle. Note: If you change a student's score in Toddle, the change will not reflect back in Electude. The score in Electude and the score in Toddle will be out of sync if you manually override it.
To review a student's progress in detail, open their submission. This opens the module view in Electude, where you can see the module information and learning objectives. From the Students tab in Electude, you can see each student’s last access time, time spent, and progress on the module. Note: Responses linked to external tools cannot be added as portfolio posts or downloaded.
When you share the evaluation with students from Toddle, the assignment status updates at the student's end, and they can see the score on Toddle.
If your administrator has enabled the Show response to students setting, students can open their response in Electude to view their submitted work.
Use Electude from inside a course/class
If your administrator has placed Electude in the course/class, an Electude tab appears in the left navigation panel of your course/class. You can share modules with all students enrolled in the course/class, without creating individual assignments.
The interface has three tabs:
In the Modules tab, browse the content catalog using the left panel. Categories such as Light Vehicles, Electric Vehicles, and Heavy Vehicles expand to reveal subcategories and individual modules. Click on the module you want to share. Under the Courses tab, select the courses you would like to add. Switch to the Students tab. Under Group content, click + next to Modules or Courses to add your selected content. The Add module/courses form opens with your selected module/course already in the dropdown, click Add to confirm. The Students section also shows students who have opened or attempted a module. To check a student's progress, click their name. All students enrolled in the course/class automatically have access to Electude and can then see all shared modules and work through them at their own pace. To check a student's progress, click their name in the Students section.
View at the students’ end
When Electude is placed in the course/class navigation, students see the Electude tab in their course. From here, they can see all the modules their teacher has shared and work through them within Electude. They can also check their own progress, including sessions completed, time spent, and percentage correct, directly within the interface.
