When marking attendance, teachers choose from predefined attendance codes. Attendance categories help you structure those codes and control how they contribute to attendance calculations.
A category defines a broad attendance state (such as Present or Absent). A code is the specific reason selected when marking attendance (such as Late or Sick leave) Note: Attendance categories are common across all schools, but the codes are defined specifically for each school.
Create a category
Click the + icon to create a new attendance category. For each category, enter the Title, Description, and the Color. Click Save to finalise your setup. Note: The first category, Present, is created by default and cannot be deleted.
Create an attendance code
Click the + icon to create a code within a category. A Title, Abbreviation, and Attendance category Indicate whether the student is physically present on campus Select the schools the code applies to. For each school, assign an attendance value (0 to 1) that reflects its impact on the overall attendance calculation. Choose whether it should trigger an email notification to families. Click Save to finalise your setup. Tip: You can create multiple codes within a category to reflect different attendance scenarios.
Manage an attendance category or code
You can edit or delete categories/codes using the 3-dot menu. Note: You cannot delete a category or code if attendance has already been marked against it.
