User name settings determine how names are displayed across the platform and in official documents. Schools can standardize how student, staff, and family member names appear on the web app, mobile app, reports, transcripts, and exported data.
Where name formats apply
Name formats can be configured separately for:
Web & Mobile (platform)- This controls how names appear inside the platform, including messages, gradebooks, and dashboards. Reports & Transcripts- This controls how names appear in downloaded PDF reports, transcripts, and exported progress report data in spreadsheet format. Default format
For schools accessing this feature for the first time, the default name format is set to First Name Last Name.
For schools that have already configured name formats, existing settings remain unchanged unless modified.
Define a name format
For each user type, you may select from predefined display formats or define a custom format.
When configuring a custom format, you choose which name components to include and arrange them in the desired order. Available components vary by user type:
Students may include first name, middle name, preferred name, suffix, and pronouns. Staff may include first name and middle name. Family members may include first name and middle name. Note: The first name component is mandatory for all user types and cannot be removed.
Since name formatting affects official documents and exported records, it’s a good idea to confirm the format carefully before saving.a
Troubleshooting
Why isn’t a name component appearing?
If a component is included in the format but not filled in on a user’s profile, it will simply be omitted. The system does not display empty placeholders.
Why does the exported spreadsheet look different from the platform?
Exports follow the format configured under Reports & Transcripts. The Web & Mobile format applies only inside the platform.
