User name settings- Claude version

This page controls how user names are displayed across Toddle — on the web and mobile platform, and in printed and downloaded documents. Settings are configured school-wide and apply separately to students, staff, and family members.

What can I do on this page?

Configure display formats across two independent sections: Web & Mobile (the teacher, student, and family app) and Reports & Transcripts (printed reports, downloaded PDFs, transcripts, and exported spreadsheets).
Set formats separately for three user types: Students, Staff, and Family members — within each section.
Choose from a list of predefined formats (e.g., First name Last name, Last name, First name) or create a custom name order using available name components.
When building a custom format, components can be added, removed, and reordered. A live preview shows how the name will appear.

How settings affect the system

Web & Mobile and Reports & Transcripts formats are independent. Changing one has no effect on the other.
Format changes under Web & Mobile take effect across the platform immediately after saving.
Format changes under Reports & Transcripts apply to all newly generated or downloaded reports, transcripts, and exported spreadsheets. Previously downloaded or printed documents remain unchanged.
Exported progress report spreadsheets always follow the Reports & Transcripts format, not the Web & Mobile format.

Things to keep in mind

For schools accessing this feature for the first time, all formats default to First name Last name.
For schools with existing configurations, current settings are preserved.
First name is required in all display formats and cannot be removed.
If a name component is included in the format but is not present in a user's profile (e.g., no middle name on record), that component is automatically omitted from the display name; it does not appear as a blank.
