Key concepts (MYP)

Key concepts are broad, organizing ideas that help students make connections across subjects and contexts.

What can I do on this page?

Use this page to configure the key concepts that teachers can select while planning units.
Add a new key concept using the Add key concept button.
Enter a title and definition.
Tag the relevant subject groups using the plus option.
Edit existing key concepts by clicking directly into the title or description fields.
Manage subject group tagging using the pencil icon.
Delete a key concept using the trash icon.

Things to keep in mind

Key concepts can be tagged to one or more subject groups.
IB-defined key concepts are listed by default, but you can edit them or add new ones as per your school’s context.
Concepts configured here can be selected while planning units and tagged as learning goals in learning experiences and portfolio posts.
Concepts can be edited or deleted even if they are already in use in unit plans, learning experiences, or portfolio posts.
When you edit a concept, the changes are reflected everywhere it has been tagged.
If you delete a concept, it is removed wherever it has been tagged and cannot be selected in the future.
