Toddle’s Gradebook makes it easy to follow a student’s academic progress across every subject/course they are enrolled in. You can view their performance for the current grading period as well as previous grading periods and academic years, giving you a complete picture of their learning journey over time.
Navigate to the student’s gradebook
A student’s Gradebook lives inside their profile and brings together their progress across subjects/courses and grading periods.
There are two ways to open it:
1. Via the quick search
Open the quick search window from the top bar, switch to the Students tab, and type the student’s name. Then, select the student to open their profile and navigate to the Gradebook tab.
2. Via class settings
Head over to your preferred class and open Class settings from the left pane. Then, select the student to open their profile and navigate to the Gradebook tab.
Here is what you will see in a student’s Gradebook:
Final grades gradebook
The Final grades view shows the student’s overall performance per subject/course for the selected grading period. The current grading period is shown by default. Use the Grading period(s) dropdown to switch between periods, and the Academic year dropdown to view student performance for a previous academic year, only if student is enrolled on Toddle for those academic years.
The columns you see depend on how your school has configured grading:
If your school has levels within subjects/courses, they appear next to each subject/course name, indicating the level at which the student is studying that subject/course. The student’s overall score for the grading period appears in the score column. If your school does not use score-based grading for a subject/course, that column shows a dash (-). Any grade scales your school uses for final grades, such as Achievement level or Letter grade, each appear as their own column. Your school may have one or several. If a subject or course isn’t evaluated using a grade scale, the cell next to the subject/course name will display N/A. If your school tracks GPA and credits, you will see Grade point, Credits, and Quality points columns for each subject/course, with Total credits and GPA shown as summary rows at the bottom. If your school has configured score or grade aggregation, Total and/or Average summary rows appear at the bottom. A dash (-) in a summary cell means the subject/course has no ratings to aggregate yet, or the value has been hidden by your school. N/A means no aggregation method has been configured for that grade scale, or the subject/course uses an alpha grade scale. Because letter grades cannot be summed numerically, the Total cell always shows N/A for alpha grade scales. The grade scales and grading methodology can differ from one subject/course to another and from one grading period to another. Note: Subjects/courses configured for standards-based grading do not appear here. Their final grades are shown in the Standards section of the gradebook.
For IB MYP students
In addition to the information described above:
For each MYP criterion (A, B, C, and D), the table shows the student’s score on a scale of 1 to 8, along with the total criteria score. The MYP Final grade column shows the student’s IB grade on a 1 to 7 scale, derived by applying the student’s total criteria score to the official IB MYP grade boundaries. For IB DP students
In addition to the information described above:
The HL or SL level appears next to each subject name, indicating the level at which the student is studying that subject. The grade scales include a Final grade column showing the student’s IB grade on a 1 to 7 scale. If the student is in their second year of DP, use the Academic year filter alongside the Grading period(s) dropdown to switch between their DP 1 and DP 2 grades. MYP criteria gradebook
For MYP students, the MYP criteria gradebook provides a criterion-by-criterion view of the student’s performance across grading periods in each subject.
Click MYP criteria in the left panel. Use the Subject and Year dropdowns to select the subject and year level you want to view. Each criterion (A, B, C, and D) appears as its own section, showing an Achievement history bar chart of the student’s grades across assessments and a list of the assessments that contributed, including the assessment name, grading period, and grade. Click any assessment in the list to open its All submissions page. Or, hover over the bars for quick information on the task. Assessments gradebook
The Assessments view gives a breakdown of the student’s progress in each subject/course. Click Assessments in the left panel to open it. Select a subject/course from the left sidebar, and use the Grading period(s) tabs to switch between periods, and the Academic year dropdown to view student performance for a previous academic year, only if student is enrolled on Toddle for those academic years.
At the top of each subject/course view, a Grade summary shows the student’s overall performance for the selected grading period. It includes:
A score for each assessment category your school has configured (such as Homework, Classwork, or Unit Test). Category weights in the overall score are set by your school administrator. The student’s overall score for the grading period Any grade scale values your school has configured, such as an Achievement Grade or Letter grade Below the summary, you will see all tasks assigned to the student: assessments, learning experiences, and quick tasks. These appear only when an evaluation tool is attached, and they show up in the grading period in which they were created.
Each row shows one task. The columns display the evaluation tools the teacher used:
Checklist: any checklist criteria used to evaluate the student’s work Rubric: criteria rated across multiple performance levels Single-point rubric: criteria with a single performance level Final remarks/comment: written feedback in the task Score: the student’s numeric score Learning goals: skills or learning goals linked to the task Each evaluation cell uses an outline to show its sharing status:
A grey outlined circle means that the evaluation is a draft, visible only to teachers. A black outlined circle means it has been shared and is now visible to the student and family. Note: All assessments, evaluations, and the grade summary are always visible to teachers regardless of sharing status. Students and family members see individual evaluations only after they are shared.
Additionally, for IB MYP and IB DP students:
For IB MYP students
Criterion grades: the student’s scores for Criteria A, B, C, and D, where criterion-based grading was used For IB DP students
IB grade: the student’s IB grade on the 1 to 7 scale DP criteria: the student’s performance on DP rubrics specific to the subject Click any assessment title to open the task’s All submissions page, or click an individual evaluation icon to open the detail panel showing the full evaluation, criteria, ratings, and teacher comments.
Use the Search bar to find a specific task, or use the Assessment tools, Assessment types, and Assessment categories filters to narrow the list.
Note: For MYP students you will also see a Criteria filter in addition to the shared filters.

There are two parts to this view.
Final grade summary: This table appears at the top only if the selected subject/course has its final grade configured through standards-based grading. It shows the student’s final grade for that subject/course, with one row per grade scale configured. Standard grades: Below the summary, you can view the student’s performance on individual standards. These are listed hierarchically, organized by standard set. Each column represents one grade scale used to evaluate those standards. Expand any parent standard to see child standards and the student’s grade for each. To view more details for a standard, click the rating in the table cell. A detail panel opens on the right showing:
The student’s grade for that specific standard and the mastery level achieved (if enabled). For child standards, this is calculated from the student’s evaluations across the tasks tagged to that standard. For parent standards, it is calculated by rolling up grades from the child standards beneath it. An Evaluation history graph showing how the student’s rating for this standard has changed over time. Use the grading period tabs at the top of the graph to switch between periods. A list of the assessments, portfolio posts, and observations that contributed to the student’s grade. Use the source filter to view ratings from specific sources, or click an item to open the detailed observation and view the assessment submission or portfolio post. Use the left and right arrow keys to switch between grade scales. Use the up and down arrow keys to switch between different parent and child standards. Note: Ratings from progress reports show up for students and family members as soon as they have been entered by the educator.
