Navigate to AI Insights
To access AI Insights, navigate to:
School homepage → Insights
This opens the AI Insights workspace, where you can ask questions about your school's data and explore visual insights.
Ask questions and generate insights
Click New chat and enter your question in the chat box. You can type your question in plain language or use the microphone icon to record it. You can also click the prompt library icon in the chat box to browse and use existing prompts organized by data source or insight area.
Before submitting your question, select the relevant school from the school selector in the chat box. AI Insights uses this selection to analyze data within the correct school context.
If more information is needed, Toddle AI may ask a follow-up questions before generating the result.
Note: AI Insights currently analyzes data within one school and academic year at a time. Queries across multiple schools or academic years are not supported.
Once AI Insights generates a response, you can review how the result was produced and explore the underlying data.
Each response may include:
Methodology and assumptions: Shows the logic used to generate the insight. Underlying data: Displays the data used for the analysis in a table. Visual insight: Shows the result as a chart or table. You can continue the conversation by asking follow-up questions in the same chat. AI uses the previous context in the chat to refine the analysis.
Note: Insights data refreshes every 24 hours. Results reflect data available up to the previous day.
Additionally, a memory indicator displays how much of the AI’s context capacity is currently in use in the chat. When it reaches 100%, the current chat is disabled, and you will be prompted to start a new conversation.
Once you are satisfied with the output, you can:
Change visualization type: Switch between Line, Table, Bar, Stacked bar, and Pie views. Export: Copy the chart to your clipboard, download it as a file, or export the underlying data as an Excel file (.xlsx). Add to dashboard: Save the chart for later use by adding it to an existing dashboard or creating a new one. Saved charts remain accessible without needing to regenerate them. Analyze external data sources
You can upload external datasets and analyze them alongside Toddle data. This is useful when you want to compare internal school data with external assessments or benchmarks such as MAP, NAPLAN, or other student-level datasets.
To add a new external data source:
Open External data sources from the left panel. Click Add data source at the top-right Upload a CSV or Excel file.
Once uploaded, you can attach the external data source to a question using either:
the @ symbol in the chat box, or the data sources icon in the chat box. AI Insights will then use the selected external data source along with Toddle data while generating the output.
Note: External data sources currently support student data only. If your file does not include a Student UID or Student email for every student, the upload will fail.
Manage dashboards
When AI Insights generates a useful chart or table, you can save it to a dashboard for future reference.
To save an insight:
Generate an insight in chat. Select an existing dashboard or create a new one. Note: Charts added to dashboards are visible to other administrators who have access to AI Insights.
Open All dashboards from the left panel to view all the dashboards created for your school. You can also pin important dashboards so they appear under Pinned dashboards for quick access.
Use the three-dot menu to edit or delete an existing dashboard.
Within a dashboard, you can manage each chart by using the chart menu. You can:
Generate key insights from the chart Change visualization type Export the chart or underlying data as an Excel file (.xlsx) Remove the chart from the dashboard Note: Dashboard charts update automatically every 24 hours.
Add a custom benchmark column
You can add a custom benchmark column to the underlying data of a dashboard chart. This helps compare student performance against school-defined targets.
To add a benchmark:
Click the Underlying data icon. Enter the benchmark values. The chart updates to include the benchmark values. You can also change the visualization type to view the comparison in a different format. Use the three-dot menu to edit or delete a custom column.
Set up dashboard email digest
You can schedule a dashboard email digest so selected staff members receive regular updates in their inbox.
To set up an email digest:
Click Setup email digest. Choose the frequency: daily or weekly. Select the delivery time. Add or remove recipients. Note: The data in your email digest reflects information from the previous day.
Review chat history
The Chat history tab keeps a record of all your previous AI Insights conversations, organized under Today, Yesterday, and Older for easy navigation.
From this page, you can:
Search for a previous chat Open a chat to review past insights Continue the analysis with follow-up questions Delete chats that are no longer needed You can also start a fresh conversation anytime by clicking Start new chat.
