As an administrator, you can control the visibility of grades shared with students and family members, including final subject or course grades, evaluations on standards, and assessment category scores. This flexibility allows you to hide ongoing evaluations until they are finalized, ensuring that only accurate and confirmed information is visible.

Navigation points

Via the admin portal

You can configure school-wide grade visibility settings from:
Admin portal → [School]Grading setup

Head to Visbility settings, the settings apply to all courses in the selected school. Course editors can further customize visibility within their individual courses.

Grade visibility settings

1. Final grades gradebook

Here, you can manage the visibility of the overall scores, grades, and GPA & credits for the courses orsubjects.
The visibility can be configured separately for students and family members. Select one of the three options:
Visible for all grading periods
Only visible for past grading periods (default value)
Hidden
Note: The visibility options remain the same for the assessment and standards gradebook sections. Additionally, if these visibility settings are accessed from within a course/subject, you will only see the grade scales configured for that course/subject.

2. Assessment gradebook

Here, you can manage the visibility of the category scores for the courses/subjects.
Note: If you have disabled category-based grading from the grading setup, then this setting will not be visible.

3. Standards gradebook

Here, you can manage the visibility of standards and active grade scales used to evaluate them. For the standards list, you will find the following options:
All standards- Displays every parent and sub-standard linked to the course/subject, irrespective of whether they have been evaluated. This is the default selection.
Only evaluated standards- Displays only those standards where at least one rating has been recorded.
If a sub-standard has been evaluated, its parent standard will also appear - even if the parent standard itself has not been directly rated.

4. Learning goals gradebook

Configure the visibility of learning goals ratings for students and family members.
Select one of 2 options:
All learning goals: displays every learning goal configured for the school l, regardless of whether it has been evaluated. This is the default selection.
Only evaluated learning goals: displays only goals where at least one rating has been recorded.
For each grade scale used to evaluate learning goals, the same 3 visibility options apply: visible for all grading periods, only visible for past grading periods, or hidden.
Note: This section only appears if learning goals grading has been configured in grading setup.
