How can I manage class settings as an educator?

Last edited 1 day ago by Shefali Rangi.
The Class settings page is a central place to manage your class roster and other class configurations. From here, you can add or remove students, family members, and staff, adjust portfolio permissions, and configure your class timetable.
Note: Your ability to make changes depends on the permissions set by your school admin.

Manage Class settings

To begin, navigate to:
School homepage → Class → Settings → Class settings.
Under Class settings, you will see a list of classes linked to the current course. Select the class you want to manage (for example, 1A English, 1B English).

On this page, you will see the following tabs:
Students
Family members
Staff members
Portfolio settings
Timetable configuration
Let’s explore each of these in detail:

Students

The Students tab displays the list of all students in your class along with key details. Here, you can:
View student information such as student sign-in code, family invite code, number of portfolio posts where the student is tagged, and their personal details, such as gender, nationality, etc.
Filter students by Status (Active, Blocked, Archived) and search for students.
Configure which columns appear in the table using the Configure column option
Add new students to the class using the Add students button.

Add new students to your class

If enabled by your school administrator, you can add students to your class from those who are already enrolled in the school roster.
To add students:
Click ‘Add students’.
You will see students from the current grade who aren't yet in your class. You can use the 'Grade' filter to select students from other grades within your school. Select one or more students from the list.
Note: You will not be able to add a student if they are already enrolled in another class that belongs to the same course code. Each student can only be part of one class per course code.
3. After adding students, click Next to choose what existing teaching content should be shared with them. You can select content from the Course plan, Assignments, or both. You can also skip this step if you don’t want to share anything immediately.

Select items from the Course plan

Shows all items created in the course plan for the selected class.
Items in Draft status remain hidden from students even if they are selected from this modal until they are shared.
Note: The visibility of the Course plan or Assignments tabs in this modal depends on whether these modules have been enabled by your school admin for teachers.

Select tasks from Assignments

Shows assignments that exist both in the Course plan for the selected class and those created directly within the class.
If an assignment appears in both the Course plan and Assignments tabs, selecting it in one tab will automatically select it in the other.
Once you have made your selection, click 'Done' to proceed.
Accordingly, the selected student(s) get added to your class, as well as to the assignments and course plan content chosen by you.

Impersonate this user- Switch to the student’s view of Toddle. Any actions performed in this mode will be recorded as if completed by the student.
Remove student- Removes the student from the class, so they won't be able to access this class anymore.
Reset student sign-in code- Resets the student’s sign-in code, requiring them to log in with a new code unless they are using a student email.
Temporarily block students access- Prevents the student from logging into their Toddle platform and their family members from accessing their child’s information.

You will be able to perform the same actions in bulk by selecting all or the preferred students and using the Actions menu in the floating toolbar. In addition to the options explained above, you can do the following-

Family members

This tab displays a list of all students in your class along with their corresponding family members, including their invite code, name(s), and invitation status. The filter at the top allows you to narrow down the list based on a family member’s invitation status.
Use this page to invite family members of your students to join Toddle:
1. Via email
Click on the ‘Invite family members via email button to send an email invite to family members of one or more students in bulk.

Staff members

The Staff members tab displays all teachers who are currently associated with your class, along with their assigned role.
If your school administrator has enabled permissions, you can also add or remove staff members from this tab. To add a teacher:
Click the 'Add staff' button located in the top-right corner.
You will see a list of all teachers added to your school roster. Select the teacher(s) you want to add.
Assign a Role using the dropdown on the right. Use the ‘Role’ filter to narrow down the list, if needed.
Once done, click on Add.

You can remove a teacher by clicking the remove icon under the Actions column next to their name.
Additionally, use the Primary subject teachers column to assign teachers as primary for the subjects/courses linked to your class. The selected teacher’s name will then appear next to the corresponding subject/course in the progress report.
In some schools, a single class may be linked to multiple subjects if the school follows a subject-based setup. In such cases, you can decide which teacher should appear as the primary subject teacher for each subject in the progress report. To do this:
Click on the pencil icon next to the teacher’s name in the ‘Primary subject teacher’ column.

In the modal that pops up, you will see a list of subjects your current class is attached to. Select the subject(s) you would like to map this teacher to and click ‘Next.’
Group 11221 (1).jpg
Within this modal, you can select additional teachers if you want to tag them to the same subject(s).
Click Save to confirm your choices.
Once tagged, their names will automatically appear in the progress reports for the corresponding subjects.

Click the thumbnail and choose an image from the available options or upload your own.
Note: You can change the class thumbnail, but class names cannot be renamed here. Renaming of classes can only be done by the school admins through the admin portal.
On the top right corner, you’ll find options similar to those available in the ‘Students’ and ‘Family members’ tab, as explained earlier. In addition, you will find the following options:
Print class invite code- Generates a PDF containing the unique class invite code along with login instructions.
