As an admin, you can add tools from Toddle’s pre-configured catalog that support the LTI 1.1 or 1.3 standards.
To begin:
1. Navigate to Admin portal→Other settings→Integration.
2. Within the ‘Integration’ tab, select ‘LTI apps’ from the left pane.
3. Click the ‘+Add’ button and select ‘Add from catalog’.
Tip: For partner tools like Edpuzzle, always use the catalog option. The custom app setup is only meant for tools not listed in Toddle’s catalog. To learn how to set up a custom tool, refer to 4. Select Turnitin Feedback Studio from the catalog.
5. Select the program(s)/school(s) where you want this tool.
6. Choose the version from the dropdown. Click ‘Save and next’.
7. Generate and enter the required credentials. From the Toddle LTI Credentials section, copy the platform URLs — Issuer URL, Login URL, Keyset URL, and Token URL — and paste them into your Turnitin admin portal when registering Toddle as an external LTI 1.3 platform.
Next, copy the following details generated in your Turnitin admin account and paste them into the corresponding fields in Toddle:
Note: Toddle automatically provides its own platform URLs, but all Turnitin-specific credentials must be obtained from your Turnitin admin portal and entered manually in Toddle.
8. Add a target link URL.
9. Toggle these settings if needed:
Allow grade passback – When enabled, scores from the Turnitin Feedback Studio (for example, quiz results) will automatically flow into Toddle’s gradebook for the assignments where the tool is added. Allow roster access – When enabled, Turnitin Feedback Studio can access the class-wise list of all students and teachers rostered in the curriculum/school where the tool is integrated. This allows the tool to recognize and match users correctly. 10. Use the checkbox to enable the tool for teachers. Click ‘Save’ to complete setup.
The integration will appear as a card showing the tool name, configured curricula/schools, LTI version, and its status (enabled or disabled for the teachers).
You’ll need to launch Turnitin Feedback Studio once to complete the connection between Toddle and Turnitin. To do this, click the launch icon.
Note: This launch step is required only once during the initial setup.
As you click on the launch icon, Turnitin opens in an embedded view. You’ll be prompted to review and accept the End User License Agreement (EULA) to finalize the connection.
Once the launch is successful, you can also view and update configuration settings or delete the tool if required.
Note: If teachers have already started using the tool, you can still edit its settings. However, deleting the tool will immediately remove access for all teachers and students.
Use Turnitin Feedback Studio in the classroom
As an educator, you can incorporate the integrated Turnitin Feedback Studio into your classroom by adding it to the submission template when creating class assignments. Here's how you can do it:
Navigate inside a class and create/edit an assignment. Click on ‘Add an external tool’ within the submission template. Select Turnitin Feedback Studio. When you select ‘Turnitin Feedback Studio’ as a submission template, it opens directly within Toddle, allowing you to create and configure your assignment.
On the Turnitin interface, use the ‘Assignment Details’ tab to:
Add the assignment title and instructions. Set the start date, due date, and feedback release date. Scores from Turnitin are passed back to Toddle only after the feedback release date has been reached in Turnitin. Define grading preferences, such as maximum points or anonymous grading. Under the ‘Rubric’ tab, you can attach an existing rubric or create a new one directly within Turnitin.
Click ‘Launch Rubric Manager’ to open the rubric library. From there, you can choose from your existing rubrics, institutional rubrics, or Turnitin’s shared rubrics.
If needed, you can also create a new rubric or import one from a file. If you wish to create a new rubric, click ‘Create Rubric’.
You can choose a rubric type, rubric dimensions, define rubric titles, scales, and descriptions based on your assessment needs. Once saved, the rubric will be available in your library for future use.
Additionally, under the ‘Report settings’ tab, you can configure how similarity reports are generated and shared:
Choose whether to store submissions in the Turnitin repository for future comparison. Select the sources to compare submissions against, such as the Turnitin repository, internet content, and periodicals. Define when to generate the similarity report Set report access preferences to allow or restrict students from viewing their similarity reports. Apply exclusions to ignore bibliographic materials, quoted text, or short matches. Once all details are entered, click ‘Create Assignment’.
Note: The Turnitin interface opens inside Toddle (embedded within an iframe), ensuring a seamless experience for teachers.
Once it is added as a submission template, you can:
Rename or remove the attachment using the three-dot menu. Click ‘Assign’ when ready to finalize the task. Note: Scores from Turnitin are passed back to Toddle once the feedback release date has been reached in Turnitin. They will flow into Toddle’s gradebook only if the ‘Allow grade passback’ setting is enabled during setup in Toddle. The scores will automatically scale according to the maximum score set for the assignment in Toddle.
View at the students’ end
Students will be able to see the Turnitin Feedback Studio attachment in their assigned task. In the ‘Your response’ section, they can click on the ‘Add’ button to submit their response.
Students can view the assignment title, instructions, and submission details, including the due date, feedback release date, maximum score, and attached rubric, as configured within Turnitin Feedback Studio. The rubric name appears on the right-hand side under the assignment details section — students can click on it to view the rubric criteria before submitting their work.
They can upload their work by clicking ‘Browse files’.
Once the file is uploaded, a confirmation message appears indicating successful submission. The submission details — such as the file name, submission time, and grading information — are displayed under the ‘Your work’ section.
Students can also view their similarity report directly from this section once it’s generated by Turnitin. Clicking the report link opens the detailed Turnitin report, where they can review similarity matches. Any feedback or comments provided by the teacher inside Turnitin Feedback Studio will also be visible in this report.
After reviewing their submission, students must go back to the Toddle platform and click ‘Mark as done’ to confirm completion on Toddle.
Once a student submits their work, you can review it directly within Toddle.
Simply navigate to the submission and click ‘Open submission’. This launches the Turnitin Feedback Studio interface in a new tab.
Within Turnitin Feedback Studio, you can:
View the student’s submission. Use QuickMarks, highlights, and comments to provide detailed feedback. Assign scores, which automatically syncs back to Toddle through grade passback. Download or view the full similarity report to analyze matches and sources. If a rubric was attached during assignment creation, you can evaluate student work using it directly within the ‘Rubrics’ tab in Turnitin Feedback Studio. Here, the rubric name appears on the right-hand panel, displaying all defined criteria and performance levels. You can move the sliders or select levels for each criterion to assign ratings based on the configured rubric.
Once feedback and grading are complete, scores are reflected in Toddle automatically. If grades do not appear immediately, you can click Resync grades within Turnitin Feedback Studio to update them in Toddle.
Note: Feedback comments and rubric evaluation remain within Turnitin Feedback Studio. Only the score is passed back to Toddle.
After reviewing, the scores assigned in Turnitin Feedback Studio automatically reflect in Toddle. You can view these scores under the All submissions tab for each assignment.
Students will also be able to view their scores once the evaluation is complete. They can open their response to see the assigned score, submission date, and evaluation status.
