How can I create and manage my unit teaching content as an educator?

The ‘Unit flow’ helps you organize all your teaching content for a unit in one place. You can structure it into sections and subsections that reflect the order in which you plan to teach. This gives you a clear, visual overview of how learning experiences, assessments, and resources come together across your unit.
In this article, you will learn how to:

Navigate to the unit flow tab

To begin:
Navigate inside your course from the homepage
Select the ‘Course plan’ tab from the left panel.
Choose the unit you want to work on.

From the top of the unit page, select the ‘Unit flow’ tab.
Note: The ‘Unit flow’ tab is visible only to teachers, not to students and families.

Add teaching content

Populate your ‘Unit flow’ by either adding new tasks and resources or importing existing material from other units or the school library. Let’s understand both these workflows in detail.

Create tasks and resources

You can create the following types of tasks in your unit flow:
Learning experience or an assessment: Build interactive activities or assessments for your students. Learn how to create a learning experience or assessment .
Worksheet: Create worksheets for students to complete as part of your unit. You can or use .
AI tutor: If your school has subscribed to Toddle AI, you can design an AI-powered tutor to guide students through discussions, quizzes, or role-plays. You can choose a template or build your own tutor, preview the interaction, and assign it to students. Learn more about creating and using AI tutors
.
Note: Quick tasks cannot be created from the unit flow as they are unit-independent.

You can add a variety of resources to your unit flow. This helps you centralize links, notes, files, and documents for organized planning.
Here’s what you can do:
Add a link: Add a web resource, video, or online reference directly in your unit flow.
Add a note: Create teaching notes or instructions using the rich-text editor. To learn more about formatting options, refer to on using the rich-text editor.
Upload from: Upload files from your device, Google Drive, or OneDrive - such as PDFs, images, or documents. Note: Uploads from Google Drive or OneDrive are only available if your respective and Accounts are connected to Toddle.
Create: Create a new Google doc, sheet, or slide file directly in your unit flow.
Note: This option is available only if Toddle is connected to your Google account. To understand how to connect Toddle to your Google account, check .

Import existing content

You can import content from:
Other units of this academic year
Learning experience and assessment library
Group 6338 (1).png
1. Other units of this academic year
When you import content from another unit, you’ll see a list of all units available to you from that academic year in your School library.
You can filter units by unit type, grade, subject, and creator using the dropdown menus at the top, or use the search bar to find a specific unit by name.
Only one unit can be selected at a time for import. Once done, click ‘Next’.
Group 6339 (1).png
After selecting a unit, you’ll see its structure organised into three sections in the left pane. Each section represents a different type of content you can import into your own unit.
Unit flow: This section displays the overall structure of the unit content: its folders (sections), subfolders, and the teaching content organised within them.
In Unit flow, you can choose to import:
Sections or sub-sections (parent items)
Specific teaching content, such as learning experiences, assessments, notes, links, and other resources (child items)
Note: Selecting a parent folder does not automatically select all of its child items. You may choose them individually depending on what you want to bring in.
Unit learning experiences and assessments: This section lists all tasks created within the selected unit, regardless of where they sit in the unit flow. You can import one or more tasks directly from this list if you prefer a quicker, more focused selection workflow.
Unit resources: Here, you’ll find all supporting files attached to the unit - such as PDFs, images, documents, and links. You can import one or more resources without having to navigate through folder structures.
Select the desired items, and click ‘Import’.
To streamline the process of selecting multiple items within a unit or folder, you can utilize the Shift + Click shortcut.
Bulk Selection: By holding down the Shift key and clicking the checkbox of a parent item (such as a Unit or Folder), you will instantly select that item along with all of its children or sub-items located within its hierarchy.
Bulk Deselection: This action functions as a toggle. If you hold Shift and click an already selected parent item, it will deselect the parent and all of its associated sub-items simultaneously.
Note: A copy of each item you import appears in your unit flow. Any edits you make to the imported copy will not affect the original version in the source unit.

2. Learning experience and assessment library
The ‘Learning experience and assessment library’ contains all class tasks (Learning experiences, assessments, and worksheets) created by teachers in your school.
Use filters such as ‘Course’, ‘Academic year’, ‘Grade’, ‘Subject’, ‘Assignment type’, and/or ‘Creator’, or search directly to find what you need.
Click the relevant task to preview details.
Select one or more tasks to import, then click ‘Add’.
Note: When you import an item from this library, a copy is added to your unit flow. Any changes you make to the imported copy will not affect the original item in the library.

Organize unit flow items

You can structure your unit flow in a way that works best for your teaching needs. Here’s what you can do:
Create folders/sub-folders: Add new folders (sections) and subfolders (subsections) to organize your content into a clear and meaningful flow. You can name these folders according to your unit’s structure.
Note: A section/folder can have up to three sub-sections/sub-folders.
Reorder items in the unit flow: Use the six-dot drag handle (to the left of each item) to drag and drop tasks or resources into your preferred sequence.
Note: All changes are saved automatically and are immediately visible to anyone who has access to the unit flow.
