On Toddle, you can change the type of any task at any point, switching between assessments, learning experiences, and quick tasks. This article covers the access points for changing task types and the key things to keep in mind before making the switch.
Note: It is not possible to change the task type for Worksheets or AI Tutor tasks.
Access points for changing task types
You can change the task type from the following locations:
Changing task type
When you click on Change task type, a pop-up window will appear, highlighting the current task type and displaying a list of available task types to switch to.
Since certain fields differ between task types, keep these points in mind when switching:
The option to switch to a Quick task does not appear in the Unit flow section, as Quick tasks are unit-independent. If a task in the Course plan is added within a unit, the option to change its type to a Quick task will not appear, since Quick tasks are independent of units. However, if a task is created directly in the Course plan and not linked to a unit, the option to switch it to a Quick task remains available. Switching to a new task type will hide any fields unique to the current task template. Any fields present in both templates will be retained. This ensures that if you revert to the original task type later, all previously entered data in those fields will be fully restored. For example, when switching from a Learning experience or Assessment to a Quick task, fields such as grading period, duration, and category get hidden, unless reverted. Switching to a Quick task, in particular, will remove assessment tool evaluations unique to the current task template. For example, when switching from a Learning experience or Assessment to a Quick task, evaluations done on scores, rubrics, or learning goals will be removed from the task. As a result, the task will no longer contribute to the overall score calculations for the category and grading period. This change will be reflected in the Gradebook and unlocked progress reports, with scores adjusted to exclude the task from the calculation.
Note: This action cannot be undone. If you choose to revert to the original task type, the evaluations will not reappear. Every time the task type changes, an entry is added to the activity log for teachers, students, and family members to view, as shown below.
