Classes

Classes represent a specific group of students linked to a course. Courses contain planning, while classes are used for day-to-day teaching tasks such as attendance, announcements, submissions, and portfolios.
Each class is associated with one course and can have multiple staff members and students assigned.

What can I do on this page?

Manage all class-related data and actions from this page.
View a list of all classes in your school, along with class name, linked course, associated staff, and students.
Create a new class using the + Create class button:
Basic details: Add Class name, Class UID (optional), and select an Associated course.
Staff members: Add staff and assign a role
Students: Add students to the class and assign the level at which each student will study the course.
In a subject-based setup, if a course is linked to multiple subjects, select a level for each subject that the student will study as part of the course.
In a course-based setup, levels are associated with the course itself.
Each student can be added to only one class per course code. If a student is already enrolled in another class for the same course, they will not be available to add here.
Use Bulk upload to add and/or update classes:
Download a template with existing classes or a blank template.
Add or edit class details in the spreadsheet.
Upload the completed .xlsx file.
Use the three-dot menu against any class to manage class-level actions:
Edit class details such as Basic details, Staff members, and Students
Print class invite codes for students (pdf)
Generate a printable PDF containing individual student sign in codes that can be shared manually.
Download family invites (zip)
Download a zip file containing printable family invite PDFs for all students in the class.
Download sign in codes for students (zip)
Downloads a zip file with individual student login codes in PDF format.
Link class to another course
Reassigns the class to a different course.
Linking a class to another course will remove all assignments, submissions, evaluations, and reset the gradebook for that class. Course content will not transfer, while attendance will remain unchanged.

Things to keep in mind

Every class is linked to one course, but one course can be linked to multiple classes.
Class names and course names may be different — class names typically indicate the student group (e.g. PSPE 5A), while course names reflect the subject area (e.g. PSPE).
Students can be enrolled in only one class per course code.
Staff and students can be assigned or removed anytime from within the class.
Archiving a class preserves its data and allows you to restore it later if needed.
