Excursion

Dear students, welcome to the module Excursion in Agricultural and Food Economics in the winter semester 2024/25. In the run-up to the seminar I would like to point out the following points: 1. The Excursion module consists of two parts: a) the pre-excursion seminar, which we set up in the winter semester but will take place in the summer semester, and b) a long excursion in the summer semester and other day/half-day excursions organised during the AFECO week in the winter semester and maybe at other points throughout the year. For the long excursion, you have the choice between two destinations, each taking place during the same week (the Pentecost lecture-free week, June 9th - 14th 2025): 3 days excursion to Brussels or 5 days excursion to a yet un-disclosed location (I heard France is likely in 2025).
2. Across all excursions that you take, you need to collect a minimum of 5 full excursion days to receive the credits for this module. So, the longer excursion in the SS is enough. But if you want to go to Brussels (3 days), you need to also collect additional excursion days through the year.
3. In the WS, we have one "pre-excursion" seminar on November 15th 12:00-13:00 to clarify the process and timetable of this module in WS and SS. Before the end of January, I will contact you again with the draft program for the two long excursions: Brussels and ???. You can then decide a) which excursion you want to take and b) select the topic for which you will prepare a group presentation in the seminar. I will set up the choices/registration forms in this ecampus page.
4. These presentations are important: you should not only be active in your topic / presentation, but also listen and participate in the other presentations. The aim is for you to be well informed and prepared when you talk with professionals during the excursions. The two sessions for presentations are scheduled on two Fridays in May (dates tbc), 12-14.00, in Seminar room Nussallee 19, so that the topics are fresh and ready in your minds at the time of the excursions. 5. Communication forum: An eCampus Forum is available for communication and the exchange of information among students. Please also use this tool to support each other in the virtual learning environment. If you need to contact me, send me an email. So, look out for the next information to come in early October and then in January. Yours sincerely, Dr. Nicolas Gerber
