Initially, my ultimate goal was really to be able to produce or participate in the production of an international travel advertisement video or to be able to document a concert of a favorite artist/s of mine.
But right now I was thinking of a culmination of my roots -- Architecture. Music. Photography and Graphic Design.
For my inner growth, I want to re-fuel my drive for creating as I have been experiencing creative block and burned out from my day-job. I would also like to develop my confidence and trust in my skills more.
But I would also like to be able to create art not just for my own growth and enjoyment but also to contribute to the growth of my fellow creatives and also non-creatives. My dream project would definitely be a television or film series. It's not exactly the job expected of me as a Multimedia Arts graduate, nor is it the focus of agencies or studios, but deconstructing production components still make up the body of work that we creatives do.
Personally, I see myself working as a narrative creator or a production manager in the long run. While I'm working on that future objective, I'm really looking forward to be in more collaborative opportunities—regardless if I'm a designer, a copywriter, a motion graphic artist, or a project manager. Immersing in different roles and working with diversely-talented people will surely make me grow as a creative in more ways than one.

I dream of contributing my design abilities to initiatives that seek to improve our community and help fellow Filipinos, particularly within the aspects of education and agriculture. In these uncertain times, I recognize and acknowledge my privilege to be able to have enough (and at times, even indulge a bit). And as cliché as it may sound, indulgence isn’t always material — it may come in the form of lingering at the dining table, and having longer conversations with my parents. Listening closely to their stories - both of them coming out of poverty - has fuelled, and continue to fuel this dream of mine. My mom had struggles with finishing her education, as she has seven other siblings; and my dad was raised in a family of farmers.
Their life experiences, vividly told with pain points included, has planted a seed of longing in me to partake in initiative-driven projects through the way I’d like to help out - which is graphic design. The pandemic has heightened a slew of other crises, and while ending these may be out of our hands and may require more from the government, I believe there is power in creativity and it can be an instrument to educate and empower our fellow Filipinos. Designing for initiatives is a space I’d like to delve into, and it would be a dream to take part in one (or two, or how many I can devote myself to).
I’d like to grow by learning from the people around me: strategists, copywriters, photographers, fellow designers, and even clients. I believe that everyone has their unique insight and vision, and I’d like to see the ways in which these can enrich me; so I can integrate it onto my own practice of graphic design, illustration, and type. For me, keeping an open mind and being observant is also a form of education that leads to growth.
Aside from learning from others, I’m keen to refine my conceptual and technical skills, and also build confidence as a creative. When I arrive at an older age, and if it’ll be possible - I’d like to be a mentor figure to a younger designer, and help them navigate the industry and encourage them to explore their craft. Ultimately, I want to grow alongside fellow creatives, cultivate a sense of community, and advocate the mentality that there is room for everyone of us, and we can grow - together.
