The Workplanner remains the primary scheduling tool and serves as the central reference for all OLODs and majors. It is a live and updatable tool, accessible through a shared link.
Structure & Date Format:
The current horizontal date layout will be maintained.
Proposal: Keep the existing format but improve the visual clarity for better readability.
Integrated with the LEHO assignment overview.
Goal:
Maintain a global overview and ensure balanced deadline distribution, including non-graded assignments.
✅ Decision: The Workplanner remains the number one planning tool.
2. WEEK NUMBERING
Kickoff week = Week 00.
The first teaching week starts as Week 01, the second as Week 02, and so on.
Holidays are included in the numbering (continuous numbering).
Special weeks such as Unwrap and Creaweek are included.
In Semester 2, numbering restarts, with the intersemester break as Week 0.
The Howest academic calendar distinguishes between roster weeks and semester weeks.
We aim for a uniform numbering format across all OLODs and wish to limit exceptions, such as group projects or film projects. Communication on this occurs at the OLOD level.
3. LEHO STRUCTURE
Always use assignments in LEHO, not just PDFs!
(It is allowed to link to a PDF or CODA file, but the assignment itself must be in LEHO.)
The first module of every OLOD must contain general information, including:
Evaluation method and grading distribution
Roadmap
✅ Action point: Alexander DLG will create a template with minimum requirements and recommendations.
4. NAMING CONVENTIONS
These guidelines apply to ZIP files submitted by students for assignments, not the individual files within the ZIP.
✅ General guidelines:
Do not start filenames with numbers (for programming courses).
The "DAE" prefix is obsolete and should not be used.
The chosen naming convention will also apply to the Student Work SharePoint.
No underscores for multiple names, e.g.:
Correct: VanDenAbeele_Alex
Incorrect: Van_Den_Abeele_Alex
✅ Alexander DLG's Proposal:
GGP01E_LastName_FirstName_AssignmentName_2425_Prepro1
Motivation: Important sorting elements appear earlier in the filename.
Course name is not mandatory.
✅ GGP Proposal:
The proposals discussed within GGP:
The green version is the preferred option:
Prepro1_2425_GGP01E_LastName_FirstName_AssignmentName
Other possible formats:
Prepro1_24_02_LastName_FirstName_
Prepro1_GGP01_LastName_FirstName_
GGP01_LastName_FirstName_Prepro1_2425_
GGP01_LastName_FirstName_
Prepro1_GGP01_LastName_FirstName_2425_
5. DEADLINES & TIMING
DAE's policy aims to protect students from pulling all-nighters.
✅ Standard deadline rules:
Assignments should not be due in the morning!
Default deadline for assignments: 23:59 (outside exam periods).
During the exam period, the same rule applies, unless a justified exception is necessary, e.g., long rendering times.
