Set up Multi-factor Authentication

Install an Authenticator App

If you already have an Authenticator App, move to the Enable Multi-factor Authentication section below.You can use the same Authenticator App for all applications that support Multi-factor Authentication. The authenticator app can be installed on any device you possess. For these instructions we’ll assume you’d like to use your phone as the device to use an Authenticator App on. If you’re unsure, reach out to your IT administrator.

Enable Multi-factor Authentication

In the Security section, click the toggle switch to the right of Multi-factor authentication
A modal should appear, click the checkbox next to “I understand I'll need to complete Set up Multi-factor Authentication to access my account.”
Click Continue
You should now see a screen that looks like this ​

On your phone, open the Microsoft Authenticator app
Tap the plus sign (+) or Add Account.
Tap “Work or school account”
Tap “Scan a QR code”.
If the app asks for permission to access your camera, tap “Allow”.
Point your phone's camera at the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
The account should be added automatically to the app and a six-digit one time code will be displayed.
On your computer enter the one time code
Click Continue
You’re done! You should now be signed in with Multi-factor Authentication. For future logins, you’ll be asked for a one-time code. Just open your authenticator app to get a new code to enter. ​
