2020 Mileage Tracker

I've been an airline status nerd my entire adult life, and have been either United 1K or American Executive Platinum for most of the last decade. But the rules have gotten more and more complex each year. United's latest system doesn't even use miles! (unless you're flying *A, and then good luck figuring out how much you're going to earn)

I was booking a trip to Thailand in January and knew there were abundant ways to earn more than 1 PQP/$ in United's new system, but got tired of trying to figure out how much I'd earn for a given flight the second time I did it by hand, so I built this doc. It lets you easily compare a few different airlines and routings for any trip you're planning, and then keep track of your progress for the year.

This works for any of the US big three airlines and their alliances, assuming you credit your flights to a US account. It assumes that you book your ticket through whichever airline you select for a given flight, not necessarily that the flight is operated by that airline. For example if you fly on an Air Canada flight but book through United on a codeshare select United as the airline. There are a ton of corner cases within each airlines system, and this tracker does not handle all of them, but it should be fairly accurate for domestic flights and international long hauls.

Not all fields are required for each flight. You can experiment to see which are. It should be clear if you know the rules of the programs. Date is only used to decide if *A earnings should be capped.

You can see that even with the United mid-year *A devaluation you still earn quite a few PQP flying Air Canada. Want to see how much that devaluation hurt?

A bit, but you can still do better than 1 PQP/$.
