Laboriously: Doing something that takes a lot of effort.
Plodded: Walked slowly and with heavy steps.
Panting: Breathing heavily and quickly, usually after exercise.
Struggling: Trying very hard to do something that is difficult.
Exhausted: Very tired.
Clad: Dressed.
Swiftly: Quickly.
Unwound: Unwrapped.
Frock: A dress (another word for dress).
Nimble: Able to move quickly and easily.
Shrieked: Gave a loud, high-pitched cry.
Good-for-nothing: Useless or worthless.
Exclaimed: Cried out suddenly and loudly.
Cross: Annoyed or angry.
Beaming: Smiling very brightly with happiness.
Gruffly: In a rough or harsh voice.
Bushy: Thick and full (like eyebrows).
Stared steadily: Looked at someone or something without moving your eyes.
Curtly: In a brief and somewhat rude way.
Retorted: Replied sharply or angrily.
Infant: A very young baby.
Next of kin: The closest living relative.
Answerable: Responsible.
Furious: Extremely angry.
